What is an Adventure Racing Colt?

In adventure racing, a colt is a term used to refer to a youth racer. The definition varies slightly from race to race, but typically teams with an average maximum age of 25 – 27 years old will qualify for the colts category. Special opportunities exist for Colts teams in adventure racing: In 2017 eight colts teams had their entries paid for and flights subsidised to race at the China leg of the AR World Series and in 2018 there is a $10,000 cash purse for the top colts team at GODZone.

What is the Colts Academy?

In an Australian first, the Colts Academy is a youth development pathway into Adventure Racing. In collaboration with the Queensland Rogaine Association, the Academy is structured around a skills clinic based on the core disciplines of adventure racing: navigation (hosted by Orienteering QLD), mountain biking (hosted by Bike On) and kayaking (hosted by Paddle Perfect), followed by a practice event.

So grab a bunch of friends, throw a team together for the Colts Raid and jump into the Academy to skill up on what it takes to be an adventure racer.
