RACE DESCRIPTIONS

The Escape Raid was born in 2022 as part of the broader “Escape to the Scenic Rim” Festival sponsored by Scenic Rim Regional Council. The race had a unique format with 3 x 3 hour individual rogaines covering the disciplines of kayaking, trekking and mountain biking over a weekending with competitors camping overnight in between. The format allowed for a very social atmosphere of racing.

After two years of sponsorship from the Scenic Rim Council with an event at Lake Wyaralong followed by an event at Lake Moogerah, the race was picked up by Sommerset Regional Council with a three year contract of races at Lake Wivenhoe. The event culminated in 2026 hosting the Queensland 8 hour rogaine championships as one of its races.
