So, with the permits in, the mapping finalised, caterers arranged, kayaks hired, head quarters booked, the initial check points taped and entries due to open in less than a month, organisation of the 2013 edition of the Rogue 24hr Adventuregaine is well under control. I’m very pleased with how the course has come together – it should be the most scenic Rogue course to date, and given the centralised HQ location, one of the most achievable yet challenging courses. Full details will be available in the Adventuregaine section when entries open in early December.
Hence, with a bit of time to explore up my sleeve over the new year break, I’ve turned my eye to scouting the 2014 Rogue24 course. Initial enquiries with the four different governing bodies responsible for providing permits have been very positive so far. With a location all new to adventure racing in South East QLD, I’m pretty excited about the course potential with some special surprises planned. If the 2013 will be the most “scenic” Rogue24, than the 2014 race will be the most “adventurous”.
While it is a long way out, go ahead and pencil in the weekend of April 26-27, 2014 into your race calendars for the Rogue24. While a HQ location has been confirmed, I don’t want to give too much else away about the course location until final approval of permits are in. In the interim, here is a sneak peak from the course for all the Google Earth boffins out there, including sections of the trekking, biking, kayaking and special tasks from the course.
But without getting too ahead of ourselves, there is still the 2013 Rogue24 race to come. We are still in need of a couple of volunteers to help on the day with tasks such as running the Navlight, manning the transition areas, first aid and catering. Stay tuned for further details soon.
